I came across an article this week about how green in the city makes people healthier.
Wageningen University & Research (WUR) has been researching the effect of greenery in the city to see how it assists people in finding rest and peace and improve their overall wellbeing.
Green in the city makes the air quality better, increases biodiversity, decreases air pollution, ensures better drainage of water, reduces noise, and allows for shade and cool areas in summer. In short greenery is essential for climate change reduction and sustainability. Furthermore is also has a positive effect on people’s health and wellbeing within the community.
The article also asks for anyone to add their project or green area to the research project so if you know of an initiative nearby you can email them.
